5 ***** Three short novellas by three hard hitting British crime writers.
Mark Newman gets things started with a prison story about a conflicted con who somehow has to please the prison guards, a certain inmate and his boss on the outside. There’s a delivery coming and all kinds of shitty permutations are possible. It’s a cleverly crafted story with some high tension and a sticky plotline. Highly recommended as are the other two stories from Paul Heatley, who has been making a name for himself with the Tom Rollins action series. The third contributor is John Bowie who is the founder and editor in chief of Bristol Noir and crime novelist.
